Change Your Mind and Change Your Life in the Process
By Larry Strawson 780-723-1848
Are you at a point where you feel like it’s time to change your life? It is easy to get into a rut; after all, doing the same things over and over every single day can be exhausting, and if you’re truly ready for a change, it is essential to act on your feelings. For many people, change is a life or death matter. While not everyone responds well to change, for some people, change is both inevitable and very necessary.
If you think that you need to change your life in order to make things better, you are probably right. Understanding where to start is a step in the right direction. Wondering how you can go about making changes to your life for the better when you are not even sure what is wrong? Take things a step at a time.
Change Your Mind
The first step in changing your life is changing your mind. Change the way that you think about things in your life, and larger changes to your life will soon follow. It sounds complicated, but it really isn't nearly as difficult as you may think. Thinking of it in these terms may help: when you want something, you put your mind to it; you want it, you decide to go after it, and it eventually becomes yours. This is true for anything in life, whether it be a new house, a new partner, a new car, or a new job. All you need to get on track to the life you want is a new line of thought. Believe in your power to change and then begin moving forward.
Decide What You Want
Deciding what you want is the next step in changing your life. Once you have allowed yourself to begin thinking of change, it’s time to make more serious decisions. It is important to set a goal in this step. Do you want to have a baby? If so, when would you like to do that?
Perhaps college is in your sights. Do you want to be back in school? If so, how long will it be before not being in school is no longer acceptable? Setting both a goal a deadline for yourself is an important part of the changing process.
Go After Your Desire
After you have started changing your way of thinking and began setting goals and deadlines for yourself, it is only a matter of taking action. Take steps toward accomplishing your goals every single day—that is the only way to truly change your life. If you actually want change, constant work toward that goal is necessary, although it can be a bit mentally and emotionally exhausting at times.
If you want to change your life, you can—it is a matter of doing it. Too many people wish they had made an early change – waiting to make change can only cause further damage to your life. You don't have to let that happen to you. Make things happen for yourself. Take slow and steady steps toward change for the better.
